I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Grinnell College

My research explores policy-relevant questions at the intersection of economic history and labor economics, with a focus on British economic history. I am particularly interested in recessions, structural change, and inequality in twentieth-century Britain and in labor market structures and employment practices in early modern London.

Previously, I worked as an economist at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and held a postdoc at the University of Oxford. I received my Ph.D. and Master's in economic history from the University of Oxford (Nuffield College), supported by the Marshall Scholarship. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Georgia.
